Academics:
Reading:
This week we will continue our theme of Teamwork. We will read “The Little Red Hen.” Our focus will be Making Connections and Predicting.
Sight Words
Our sight words for the week are;
Monday: with
Tuesday: good
Wednesday: now
Thursday: say
Friday: Test over all 4 words
Sight words are not to be treated as spelling words. They are to be practiced as words the children can quickly recall from memory. Each week we will work with four new words with a test on Friday.
Ideas for practicing sights words include but are not limited to;
· Playdough
· Shaving cream
· Spaghetti writing
· Playing sight word bingo
Writing:
This week in writing we will continue to focus on getting ideas, how writing is organized, retelling story events, and making connections as well as punctuation. We will be reading the story “Love You Forever”.
Math
This week we will be learning about subtraction.
Science:
This week we will discuss animals and their habitats.
Social Studies
This week we will continue to discuss situations in which people trade. We will also be making an Economics Book.
Reminder:
- Please check and return folders daily.
- Pickle Day has been moved to Wednesdays.
- Friday’s are popcorn day.
- Cap and Gown Money due Tuesday, May 3rd.
- Field Trip Friday, May 27th.
Dear Parents/Guardians,
The end of the year is quickly approaching and it is time to purchase Kindergarten Graduation caps and gowns. The cost will be $16.00 which includes; cap, gown, tassel, and diploma. In order to ensure the shipment arrives before graduation we will need the $16.00 by Tuesday, May 3nd. Please let your child’s teacher know if you do not wish for you child to participate in the graduation ceremony.
